Why Rick Perry?

A Real Record on Job Creation

Under Governor Rick Perry, Texas has outpaced the nation in job creation, accounting for 45% of all newly created jobs in America.

Today, Texas is one of the few states in the nation that is home to more jobs than before the recession.

Perry has spurred job growth in Texas by lowering taxes, reducing regulations and encouraging innovation. In doing so, Texas has added more private sector jobs than any other state in the nation.

A Champion of Balanced Budgets

Governor Rick Perry has consistently balanced the Texas budget and was the only Texas governor to ever reduce state general spending.

When Texas confronted a budget shortfall this year, he cut spending, rather than raising taxes.

Rick Perry’s strong conservative record on balancing budgets and cutting spending has strengthened Texas’ economy in spite of the recession.

NOTE: Texas has had a balanced budget amendment before Perry took office. However, Perry has pushed for Texas to petition the U.S. for a national balanced budget amendment.

An Accomplished Executive

In Texas, Governor Rick Perry has provided leadership on issues that Washington has failed to act on.

Rick Perry took on red-tape government bureaucracy by instituting tort reform. He signed into law a bill, which decreases frivolous lawsuits, speeds up the legal process, and saves taxpayers money in legal fees.

Under Rick Perry, Texas has become America’s largest energy producer. Rather than using bureaucratic measures to spur energy production, Perry encouraged energy innovation by ‘creating a favorable economic climate, keeping the regulatory system predictable and fair, staying out of the way.’ (Energy speech, 7/15/11)

Governor Perry understands how to create jobs in the midst of hard economic times. He has led the fight against irresponsible fiscal practices and has worked to shrink government bureaucracy.
